Other Foot Conditions We Help With

At Dr Insole we have been making custom orthotic insoles by hand in Muswell Hill for 40 years. Alongside flat feet, high arches, plantar fasciitis and the other conditions on our main pages, we regularly help people with the foot problems below. Every pair is made by hand to match your feet, giving support, cushioning and pressure relief exactly where you need it.

If you don’t see your problem listed, ask us. A free consultation, including gait analysis, is the best way to find out whether custom insoles can help you.

Morton’s neuroma

Morton’s neuroma causes a sharp or burning pain, often between the third and fourth toes, and can feel like standing on a pebble. Our insoles are shaped to take pressure off the painful area and spread your weight more evenly across the ball of the foot, which many customers find makes walking far more comfortable.

Bunions, including after bunion surgery

A bunion changes how weight passes through the front of your foot, which can lead to pain under the big toe joint and the ball of the foot. Custom insoles support the arch, help control rolling inwards and cushion the forefoot. We also make insoles for people recovering from bunion operations who want extra support and comfort.

Achilles pain and tight calves

Pain at the back of the heel and tight calf muscles are often linked to the way the heel moves when you walk or run. Our insoles support the heel and arch to help steady the foot, and can include a small heel raise where it helps. We also make insoles for active children with heel pain from Sever’s disease.

Supination (rolling outwards)

Some people roll onto the outside of their feet, which can lead to ankle twisting, pressure on the outer edge of the foot and hard skin. Custom insoles can be built up on the outside to bring the foot back towards a more balanced position.

Knee, hip and back pain linked to your feet

Many of our customers first come to us with knee, hip or lower back pain rather than foot pain. Flat feet, rolling in or out, or one leg being slightly shorter than the other can all change how your body moves. Our free gait analysis looks at how you stand and walk, and your insoles are made to support better alignment from the ground up.

After a foot or ankle injury

After a broken ankle, broken toes or metatarsals, a Lisfranc (midfoot) fracture, a broken heel bone, torn ligaments or an ankle with pins in it, your foot may need extra support while it settles. We make insoles that support the injured side and help balance the way you walk. We see a lot of sports people with broken toes from football, rugby, hockey and running. We make the insole flexible so your foot can move naturally, but keep it firm under the fracture so the broken bone is protected. The insole spreads your weight away from the injury while you get back to training, and helps stop you favouring the other foot.

Arthritis in the feet

Rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, including in the big toe joint, can make every step uncomfortable. Our handmade foam insoles can be made pillow soft, medium or firm, with stiffer areas where a joint needs protecting and softer cushioning where you need comfort.

Corns, calluses and hard skin

Corns and hard skin usually build up where too much pressure falls on one small area. We shape your insoles to spread that pressure, and can make a soft recess under a painful spot.

Hammer toes, claw toes and curling toes

Toes that bend or curl change how weight passes through the front of the foot, often causing pain under the ball of the foot or at the tips of the toes. Insoles made for your feet can cushion the forefoot and give more space where it is needed.

Arch pain

An aching arch after standing or walking for a long time often means the arch isn’t getting enough support from your shoes. Custom insoles follow the exact shape of your arch to support it along its full length.

Other conditions we have experience with

We have also made insoles for people with hypermobility and EDS, drop foot, polio, diabetes, gout, bow legs, and people recovering from a stroke. Each case is different, so come in for a free consultation and we will talk you through what we can do.
